Any good company does their best to keep their clients informed. Besides, we all want to know what is going on especially when investing money into something. Working only during work days for foundation repair is important not to distract neighbors.
Phase one is the evacuation phase. This takes up most of the time. It requires digging up holes that way piers can be inserted. The dirt that is pulled up out is placed on plastic to keep it stored until returned back to the ground. They are marked with caution and covered until then.
Know the Difference
There is a difference in exterior holes that come from outside and interior holes that come from the inside. This is important to know the difference between the two. When penetration is inside it can cause a lot of dust and vibration. No worries! These can be avoided. It is great that they can be avoided due to all the dust that it causes. Here is how below:
By tunneling outside the interior penetrations can be avoided. We will have to tunnel from outside under the house. This is a better way to go about getting your foundation repaired. The only downside is that it can cost a bit more. All in all, if you want to avoid the dust and vibration, it is the way to go. Just be informed that the expense of the project will come out to cost more than interior work.
When interior tunneling is necessary, you must take steps to protect your belongings. Things that may fall over because if the vibration need to be moved and placed in safe place. Also, anything that cannot stand dust on them such as clothes and furniture. All of these items must be covered. Storage of all of your belongings is first and foremost. We do not want to cause any damage to belongings. We understand somethings cannot be replaced. That is why we urge you to save up all of you items in your home. Especially those that are sentimental.
Only Professionals Can Tell
Only a professional can tell if something needs to have interior pier placement. Everything will be documented and placed in a format easy to read that way everyone will have a clear outline before any work begins. This is the longest phase. Good preparation is important. That is why this step takes the most time to complete. The homeowner will also need to remove any plants on the outside of the home. Any shrubs left behind can be moved but with any plant transportation, we cannot ensure the life of the plant or assume the responsibility for it.
The Pier Insertion Phase
This step does not take very long at all. It does, however, cause a little bit of a jolt. During this phase, you may feel a series of minor jolts. It is very important to protect any and all fragile items that you may have in the home. The list includes:
- Any Wall hangings
- Tall Furniture that is Not Restrained to the Wall
- China or Dishes
Anything that may become discombobulated during the process of Foundation Repair
The Leveling Phase
The next phase that occurs during the foundation repair is the leveling phase. This phase, for the most part, is fairly quick. It does require access to the interior foundation of the home. This is so that measurements can be taken. The worst part of this phase is the minor jolts that may occur during the process.
Please note that these are minor jolts. However, these minor jolts can cause damage to the following:
- The Walls
- The ceilings
- The Plumbings
- And the Masonry.
However, this is the phase where existing cracks that are on the wall may become closed. At that time windows may become able to use again, or even doors may become operable once more.
The Clean Up Phase.
This is just what it says that it is. The cleanup phase. This is the final stage of the foundation repair process. Everything is put back in place during the phase. The soil is put back into the appropriate places and compacted and graded over for a smooth finish and then covered with concrete.
The holes are then mounted with soil. This allows for the soil to naturally find its course and settle into a level grade over time. Any leftover soil is then taken off.
Professional engineers are available throughout all the stages listed above. They are there to oversee the process and available to answer any questions. You can call anytime for any questions that you may have. The final result of the home should be functional and of great value.
